Village of Justice Board - Voting Record - Appointment of Melanie Kuban as Trustee

At this meeting the appointment of a trustee occurred to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Phil DePaola.  Long time resident Edwina Gaskin asked Mayor Kris Wasowicz about the process that was used to fill this vacancy.  Below is his response.  This is taken directly from the Village Board meeting minutes that are posted online at http://www.villageofjustice.org/.  The voting record of the Board follows for your review.

"Mrs. Gaskin then asked about the process for choosing an interim trustee to replace Trustee DePaola who resigned.

                       Mayor Wasowicz replied that three candidates submitted resumes.  All were qualified, but 

                       Ms. Melanie Kuban is politically allied with him and has a great deal of knowledge and

                       experience to bring to the board.  She is his choice for the position.  In 2013 the public will

                       get their choice by election."

Minutes of Monday, June 27, 2011

7:30 PM.                                            

                                Mayor Kris Wasowicz called the Meeting to order at 7:30 pm.

              

            PLEDGE:

                         Mayor Wasowicz led the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance.

                       

            ROLL CALL:

                        Clerk Kathy Svoboda called the roll.  Present are Mayor Kris Wasowicz, Trustees:  Rich Sparr, Rick Symonds, Ed Rusch and Sue Small.  Trustee Kinga Bartoszek is absent.  Attorney Michael Castellino of the Del Galdo Law Group is also present.

            APPROVAL OF MINUTES:

The Chair will entertain a Motion:  To approve the minutes of the Regular Board Meeting of June 13, 2011 as submitted, or if necessary as corrected.

MOTION:       Trustee Sparr Moves:  To approve the minutes as submitted.             

SECOND:       Trustee Symonds

VOTE:            Trustees Rusch, Small, Sparr and Symonds, aye.  All ayes.  Motion passed.

VILLAGE PRESIDENT’S REPORT:

Mayor Kris Wasowicz hereby appoints Melanie Kuban to the vacancy on the Village Board to serve until the next regular election in 2013

The Chair will entertain a Motion:  To approve the appointment of Ms. Melanie Kuban to the Village Board to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Phil DePaola.

MOTION:       Trustee Sparr so Moves.

SECOND:       Trustee Symonds

VOTE:            Trustees Small and Rusch, nay; Trustees Sparr and Symonds, aye.  Mayor Wasowicz voted aye.  Motion passed.
